The Challenge
When a citywide sewer tie-in project was on the line, Stormwater LLC needed more than as-builts. They needed answers. GPRS provided Video Pipe Inspection (VPI) services along with the SiteMap® Sewer Layer.
The Solution

The SiteMap® Sewer Layer turns sewer inspection data into an interactive GIS map. Teams can quickly access videos, condition reports, and geolocated records.
Stormwater LLC used our cloud-based software to access detailed records of each pipe segment. This included videos, condition descriptions, and GIS mapping. This is actionable intelligence in a secure GIS system. It’s ready to guide today’s tie-in decisions and tomorrow’s maintenance.
Stormwater LLC turned to GPRS for answers, and Project Manager Brendan Koziol took on the challenge of investigating the underground network. Every GPRS VPI Project Manager is NASSCO-certified. They provide detailed reports, so you can see every inch of your pipes. This can help you plan repairs, maintain system integrity, and reduce risk.
On-Site Execution
To capture the full picture, Koziol deployed a remote-controlled sewer inspection crawler and a push-fed sewer scope. These tools use high-resolution CCTV cameras to record conditions inside storm and sanitary sewer lines. And in turn, create accurate records for each segment.
When a technical glitch interrupted one video, Koziol acted fast. He diagnosed the issue and returned to complete the footage. At the client’s request, he added extra linear feet to maximize the visit. The result is a complete and accurate dataset ready for analysis and upload into SiteMap, your secure, interactive GIS system for managing underground infrastructure.
“A weird technical malfunction caused video interruption in one of the pipe segments,” Koziol explained. “Since I was going to be back in the area, the customer added additional linear feet for me to investigate, and I was able to capture all the pipe conditions, including those from the interruption.”
The Result

All underground utility data captured by GPRS Project Managers is uploaded into SiteMap®. A cloud-based GIS infrastructure management platform for secure, interactive mapping and record storage.
Once the inspection was finished, Koziol delivered a clear report to the client. It followed NASSCO standards and showed every problem ranked by how serious it was. The report also included photos and videos as evidence.
Thanks to Koziol’s quick work, Stormwater LLC was able to send the report to the city sooner than expected.
Koziol uploaded all the data, reports, and videos into the SiteMap Sewer Layer. This feature in SiteMap keeps VPI reports and videos safe and easy to find. The client can view all their reports and videos in one dashboard. This setup works for both the current project and future maintenance tasks.
“They thought it was pretty cool with what we could do with SiteMap,” Koziol explained. “With the deliverables that we had, they definitely want to use us going forward with SiteMap and with how timely we were on site.”
What is the SiteMap® Sewer Layer?
Managing storm and sanitary sewer systems is tough. Outdated as-builts and costly potholing often leave teams guessing what’s underground. The SiteMap Sewer Layer removes that guesswork and gives you 24/7 subsurface clarity.
This feature turns inspection data into actionable intelligence:
- See every pipe segment with videos and condition details tied to NASSCO standards
- Access one source of truth for your entire sewer network
- Plan ahead with depth, flow direction, material type, and defect severity rankings
- Share securely with your team, contractors, and stakeholders in real time
SiteMap combines Video Pipe Inspection (VPI) data with advanced utility locating. Every line is geolocated with RTK positioning. This means you know exactly where your infrastructure is and its condition.
From university campuses to municipal wastewater systems, SiteMap helps teams move from reactive fixes to proactive solutions. It puts your sewer intelligence right at your fingertips. You can use it for today’s decisions and plan for tomorrow’s maintenance.
